You Rock

Hi friends!  My crafting mojo seems to have come back a little bit, but that's because there are so many birthdays in May and June that I have to create whether I want to or not!  :)  I made this card for my cousin's son who is turning 9, I believe.  I used lots of new-to-me papers by Imaginisce that I picked up at the scrapbook show a couple of weeks ago.  I believe they were 20 cents a sheet- I thought that was a pretty good price for a line that's only a year or so old!  I used the Sweet Sunday sketch for this week:

The sentiment is by Paper Smooches, but I'm realizing now that there's not a whole lot going on besides the patterned paper!  I hope you enjoy my card, thanks for stopping by!

Let's Eat!

Hi there!  I'm juuuust making it in under the wire for this week's TCP challenge, to use this sketch:

I started off with the image from the Thanksgiving set and added a cupcake from one of the birthday sets.  The image was colored with my Copics and cut out with my Nestabilities.  Several papers from MME's Lime Twist (Out of the Blue) collection were added in the background, in addition to aqua (I promise it's aqua, and not the blue my camera changed it to!) and yellow cardstock.  I added some orange gingham ribbon and the sentiment to finish off this silly card.

Eyelets and cupcakes, oh my!

Hi friends!  Happy Memorial Day!  I can't believe it's time for another Woodware challenge.  I haven't been posting much lately, but that's because I'm not making cards as often as I usually do.  I'm going through another card making funk... I seem to go through these phases where I run out of steam, but hopefully it clears up soon!  For now, I have my "use a forgotten embellishment" care to share; my embellishment of choice is the eyelet.  I have a several of those variety packs by Making Memories and they just sit collecting dust, so I pulled out a piece of Maya Road chipboard and jazzed it up with some lime green eyelets.  It makes a nice frame for my cupcake, I think.  :)  The papers were all from my scrap stash, so I'm not sure of the manufacturers, and the ribbon was also a leftover piece.  I *love* using up scraps, it makes me feel like I'm actually making a dent in my stash!  :)

Congratulations

Hi everyone!  Welcome to another "anything goes" challenge at Woodware USA!  One of my co-workers just got tenure, so I made a congrats card for her.  To start off, I colored in the mouse-in-a-teacup image from the Micey Mice set with my Copics.  I'm not thrilled with the colors not matching the papers, but I did the best I could with my limited color choices.  :)  And speaking of, I used lots of new (to me!) papers from My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary line.  One of the booths at the scrapbook show was selling tons of MME paper for 20 cents a sheet and it certainly didn't bother me that it's "old"!  I don't care about being new and trendy, pretty is timeless.  :)  The sentiment is from Wedding Words, which I stamped on a die-cut ribbon slider and attached to a turquoise ribbon.  For some reason my camera has a tough time with turquoise, but I promise it's a little more green in real life.  The cup is too, for that matter.  :)

Woodware Challenge #28

with deepest sympathy

Hi friends!  Just popping in with a quick sympathy card.  I had bought these K&Co stickers a while back with sympathy cards in mind, so when a friend's father passed away unexpectedly, I pulled out my stickers and designed the card around the watering can.  The yellow paper is also K&Co and I used some white cardstock embossed with polka dots to bring out the daisies.  The polka dots were sponged with some moss green Colorbox ink and I added two photo holders in a matching color to fill the space.  The sentiment is Impression Obsession- the set makes it really easy to throw together sympathy cards.  I never seem to have any on hand, and of course it's something I never know when I'll need, so I'm glad I picked up that stamp set.    


Yesterday I went to a scrapbook show about 2 hours from my house and got lots of 6x6 paper pads by Pink Paislee and My Mind's Eye, so you'll be seeing lots of yummy patterned papers soon!  I also got some more super cute Penny Black stamp sets, which I can't wait to ink up!  So many supplies, never enough time in the day!  ;)  Okay, I'm off to start pulling supplies for my next card class at the nursing home.  I hope to take pictures of the class and the kits I make this time so you can see what I've been up to!  I hope you're all having a great weekend!

Celebrate

Hi everyone!  I'm back again with my just-making-the-deadline entry for TCP Tuesday.  We were given a color challenge this week:

When I was using the Report Card papers by October Afternoon on my Woodware card, I passed by a sheet of patterned paper that had the exact colors called for above!  Don't you love when things like that happen?!  :)  I knew I wanted the paper to take center stage, so I matted it with white and blue cardstocks and let it cover the majority of the card.  To embellish, I stamped my little penguin friend and colored him with my Copics.  The sentiment is Paper Smooches and was stamped on a piece of Nestability-cut kraft cardstock (love those banner Nestabilities!).  

I'm going to use this card for my brother, who's turning 31 next week.  The inside of the card reads "It's time to party!" which seems to suit my little penguin friend just fine!  Hopefully Brian gets a chuckle out of this card.  :)

It's a rainy Monday here in NY, but I'm loving this cozy weather!  Perfect for sleeping all snuggled up.  :)  I hope your week is off to a great start, friends!  Thanks for stopping by!

For the best teacher

Hi there!  Welcome back to another Woodware USA challenge!  This week, we were to use another sketch created by Kerry:

It's that time of year where people start buying teacher gifts, so I thought this might be the year I actually try and sell the teacher cards I've been talking about making for years but never produce!  :)  The School Tots set is perfect for such a card.  I used patterned papers by October Afternoon (Report Card), some colorful scraps of DCWV cardstock, and my old kraft cardstock stand-by.  All of the images were colored with my Copics, cut out, and popped up on foam tape, with the exception of the A+, which was stamped with Colorbox ink and cut out with a star shaped Fiskars punch.  To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment to the side.

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

Hi everyone!  My Mother's Day post is a little over due, but that's because last week was super busy for me.  I teach a card class at a local nursing home and had to spend every afternoon prepping for it.  (Note to self:  do NOT wait until the week before the class to start making the kits!!)  So, due to my lack of free time, I had to scramble Sunday morning to work on my mother's card, but I knew as soon as I bought that Penny Black stamp set that I would use this image for her card.  I love that the mouse is completely stuffed, but looks SO happy!  LOL  

I fiiiiianlly used some really pretty Girl Friday papers by CosmoCricket that I was hoarding.  I used kraft cardstock to mat everything and this month's Sketch for You to Try:

I colored my little mouse friend with Copics and stamped the tiny Doodlebug sentiment on the tag. The sentiment is Melissa Frances and I believe the pink ribbon is American Crafts.  Here's a close up of the image:

I got my mom some lottery tickets, and because I was short on time, came up with this quick and easy french fry-inspired box.  I scored the patterned paper into a normal box shape, and then used my Grand Nestabilities (Grand Ovals) to cut out the swoop in the front of the box so the lottery tickets would peek through.  I decorated the box with some more patterned papers and a ticket from Melissa Frances.  The flowers were in my stash (I didn't even know I had that white crocheted flower!  Score!) and the heart embellishment is an oldie from Heidi Swapp, I think.  My boyfriend told me I should have just put the lottery tickets in her card, but he just doesn't understand anything about presentation, does he!?  lol  :)  Here are a few detail shots of the sentiment and flowers:

Mr. and Mrs. Tot!

Hi everyone!  I'm so sorry I'm late posting my Woodware card, but there was a mix-up and the stamps didn't get to me until today, so here is my quick & easy wedding card!  I used the Wedding Tots set and the must-have Wedding Words set- all of the words in that set are separate stamps, so you can create a TON (and I really mean a LOT) of different wedding phrases.  I colored Mr. and Mrs. Tot with my Copics, but I really need to work on the hair.  This was one of my first attempts with hair, but I'll keep practicing.  I'm so envious of those who can color hair like they belong in a Pantene commerical!  lol  :)  I used lots of scraps of black cardstock and some patterned papers by Making Memories.  I finished off the card with this silvery-white ribbon that I bought in bulk at a yard sale- not sure who the manufacturer is, but I don't care because I think it's the perfect wedding-y ribbon and that's all I need to know!  :)  I love that the stamps are so large in this set; that means I don't have to do a lot of embellishing to fill the space, and that was super handy tonight when I was trying to get this card posted!  I really like how it turned out though, but that's mostly because Mr. and Mrs. Tot are so darned cute!!  I hope you like my card and have some time to play along with our Woodware USA challenge this week.. we'd love to see your wedding or anniversary creations!  Thanks for stopping by!

Get Well Soon Teacup

Happy Monday, friends!  I'm back with another Woodware challenge- this week we were asked to use yellow, blue and brown.  I'm not sure that I've ever used that color combo, but I really like the palette!  I started out with my Micey Mice set and colored my image with Copics.  I added the sentiment from the Get Well Soon set.  I believe the chocolate cardstock is Martha Stewart, the darker blue cardstock is DCWV, and all of the other papers are Creative Memories.  I added some Bazzill brads and some buttons and ribbon from my stash.  The layout is last week's Mojo Monday sketch:

Go forth & eat cake!

Hi friends!  Quick post today.. I made this birthday card for my brother and killed a couple of challenges along the way.  The first is this photo inspiration from The Cat's Pajamas:

The colors in the photo on the right really spoke to me, so I skipped the coffee them and just used the colors as my inspiration.  For the layout, I used this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch:

The red and light blue patterned papers are DCWV Celebration Stack and the caramel patterned paper is K&Co.  I colored the TCP image with my Copics and added some Darice gems to finish off the card.  I wouldn't have ever chosen that color palette in a million years, but I like it!  I hope you do too, thanks for stopping by!
