Creamsicle Cupcake

Hi everyone!  Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, so I thought I'd pop in to share the birthday card I made for her.

I have to say I'm making progress on my hoarding tendencies with this card- I finally broke into one of my Echo Park paper pack collections (Life is Good)!!!  I have a whole bunch of paper packs by all different companies, and all I ever do is look at the papers and stickers and drool over them.  LOL  Anyone else with me there?!?  hah!

Anyway, I based my card off of the current Sweet Sunday sketch:

I know a lot of people are using this sketch for holiday cards, but I swapped out the snowflake for a heart sticker from the collection pack and added a brown button threaded with some Cupcake Doodlebug twine.  The image is Sweet 'n' Sassy Stamps and I blew the dust off my Copics to color Cocoa and his orange creamsicle cupcake in.  My mom loooooves anything creamsicle flavored, so I thought it would be fun to color the cupcake that way.

The aqua cardstock is Papertrey Ink, and of course all of the patterned papers are Echo Park.  I have to say, it does feel good using some of those hoarded supplies- I really like how this card turned out!  :)  I hope you do too, thanks so much for stopping by!

Birthday Turtle

Hi friends!  Just a quick post tonight.. I made this card back in May for Chris's birthday (the card my parents gave him).  I started out with that cutie pie turtle from Sweet 'n' Sassy stamps.  I colored him with my Copics and cut him out with my Nestabilities.  The patterned paper is MME- the blue paper is actually the reverse side of the star pattern, I just flipped the die cut around so it would mat the image.  The green patterned paper is K&Co and I punched some stars out of cardstock scraps.  (I've been using my star punch a lot lately!)  I added some buttons and twine in the same colors for a monochromatic embellishment.

You take the cake!

Hi friends!  Just a quick post today.. here's another card using MME's Quite Contrary papers.  I paired them up with some turquoise (trust me it's not the blue it looks like!) cardstock and an image by Sweet n Sassy stamps.  I colored Cocoa and the piece of cake he's just "guarding" with my copics and cut him out with my Nesties.  The sentiment is also Sweet n Sassy and the sketch was from an old sketch challenge:

Cocoa's thinking of you!

Hi friends!  I'm playing along with my first Cocoa challenge- isn't he cute?!  He's one of the star attractions at Sweet 'n Sassy stamps, and I couldn't resist picking up a bunch of his sets, so you'll be seeing a lot more of him in the future!  This particular set is called Love from Cocoa, and I also used Gifts from Turtle for the sentiment. The challenge was to make a "thinking of you card", and I also paired it up with The Sweet Stop sketch:

In my continual effort to de-hoard, I attacked one of my many DCWV paper stacks. These papers are from one of the summer stacks, but I thought they had more of a spring feel, so out they came!  I have 11 more of these to make, so I can start to restock my Etsy store.  Cocoa was colored with my Copics, but I'm just realizing now that I forgot to add the flower embellishments!  Oops!  I got so carried away with all of the layering I forgot to finish my sketch, but that's okay.  I'll probably add some buttons or something later.  :) I hope you enjoy my card, thanks for stopping by!

HOOse birthday is it?

Hi there!  I'm still sick with a cold, but I feel a bit better after leaving work early and taking a 3 hour long nap.  Hopefully this cold doesn't linger too much longer!  :)  I'm playing along with my first Sweet Stop Sketch; with the sketch we were instructed to use "winged things" for a fun spin:

I stretched the sketch out a bit, but I think it's still recognizable.  As I was going through my new Sweet 'n Sassy stamps, I realized the only "winged" creature I had was from the free set they gave me (whew!).  I could have played anyway, using an image from a different company, but I don't like to do that.  I feel like if a company goes through the trouble of hosting a challenge, the least you could do is use their stamps!  :) Anyway, this little owl friend comes with different accessories, and you can see here I chose the party hat and balloon.  All of the papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Delovely line.  I wasn't a huge fan of this line (one of those, why did I buy this? moments), but I'm loving those super bright hues paired up with the black matting!  This sketch was a great way to show off a lot of different patterns, but hopefully it's not too busy!  I colored the owl and hat with my Copics and paper pieced the balloon.  The sentiment and its mat were cut with my Nestabilities, and I added two Prima flowers and Making Memories brads to finish off the card.  After all my hesitation about the collection of papers, I really love how this card turned out!  The inside reads "i hope it's a hoot!" (sentiment by Hampton Arts).  I hope you all enjoy my florescent creation, thanks for stopping by!

Sweet & Sassy birthday blog hop!

Hi everyone!  I came across Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps when I went to the stamp convention last week, and I bought a whole bunch of their adorable stamps.  This weekend they're having a birthday hop on their blog, so I couldn't wait to crack open some of my sets.  These are two separate stamps, but I did a little masking so I could put the donut in front of the coffee:

  


I used some Recollections kraft cardstock to paper piece the cozy on the coffee cup.  ;)  Of course I used my copics and Nestabilities; the pink patterned paper is DCWV and the green stripes are K&Co.  I used a Stampin' Up! scalloped circle punch to mat the sentiment, from another set:

  I see myself using this sentiment over and over again- perfect for all those cupcakes and fruits, etc!  This card took a little while to create with the masking and coloring, but I love how it turned out!  I hope you like it, too!  Thanks for stopping by!
