Copic Flowers

Hi friends! I made this card a while ago for a friend's birthday. I have several Copic markers, but I'm not very good with them, as you can see. I'm not good with coloring in general, but I think it could be that I don't have enough colors to get the blending right. Anyway, I used some old Colorbok papers and some kraft cardstock for matting. I got the image in a swap, but I think it might be Hero Arts. (?) It's a simple card because I wanted the flowers to stand out, but this is something I need to work on. :)


I've been enjoying my four day weekend, and it looks like we might have another snow day tomorrow! :D I just made a batch of thank you cards and am going to spend the rest of my day off working on some St. Patrick's Day cards. Valentine's Day 2010

elephant & lamb baby shower

Hi there! I have to get better about blogging- I haven't had much time with trying to get all of my Valentine's Day cards finished! :) I will try to post all of them before the big day gets here. For now, I'm sharing these 2 baby shower cards my dad needed for his co-workers... he asked me the night before(!), so theses aren't my best work, but I think they turned out okay. He also didn't know if we had boys or girls on the way, so I tried to keep the colors neutral. This first one uses paper by ATD, matted with some kraft cardstock. The wide white ribbon is part of a huge bucket (one of those wrapping paper holders) of ribbon I scored at the Clean House yardsale I went to last weekend. I paid $10 for it, and then kind of regretted it because most of the bucket was curling ribbon, which I don't really use. But anyway, I added the Colorbok chipboard "joy" tag with some narrow yellow ribbon (also from the bucket) and stamped the Hero Arts elephant and heart with some of my new ColorBox inks. They were on clearance at AC Moore, and I had a gift card, so I bought 6 of them- now I have tons of different ink colors! :)

The next card uses more of my beloved kraft cardstock, with some patterned paper I got in a swap. The yellow ribbon I got in the antiques section (this ribbon doesn't look "antique" to me...?) of an outdoor festival last year, but it doesn't show the manufacturer. I finally started tapping into some of the card candy I've been hoarding, hence the "sweet one" embellishment.  I added a couple of yellow buttons to finish off the card.  


I find baby shower cards difficult to make, in that they're not much different from baby cards.  I wish I had a stamp with the image of a duck holding an umbrella or something, so I'll have to keep my eye out for that kind of thing. ;)  On the inside of both cards, I computer printed "a shower of good wishes for you and baby!".  Someone needs to make that stamp, too! :)  


This is the start of a 4 day weekend for me, so I really hope to get lots and lots of St. Patrick's Day cards made.  I went through all of my papers and ribbons last night; today I'm going to go through all of my embellishments to pull out anything green, orange, yellow or gold.  I'm always amazed at how much stuff I come up with, or how much stuff I forgot I had!! :D  Happy weekend, everyone!

Sweet Treats and Mini Cards

Hi all! Just a quick post to show you what I made for my co-workers (we just celebrated Counselors' Week). I picked up these treat boxes at my local Goodwill store (3 boxes for 99 cents) and filled them with some raspberry bars. I also picked up a bunch of flowers for each of them at the grocery store, and was pleasantly surprised to find out they were only $2.02 a bunch! :D The mini cards are by K&Co, all I did was stamp the Inkadinkado image. Super simple, but I think the black image on the hot pink card is pretty intense as it is. :) Hope you like this little gift idea- I know the counselors did!!! :D Thanks for stopping by!

Elegant (?) Thank Yous

Hi all!  Quick post this morning before I head out to work.  I made these for my dad to give to his principal (female) and vice principal (male)- they nominated him for a teacher award and he wanted to express his gratitude for their kind words.  My style is generally fun and cutesy, so this was a bit of a challenge for me.  I used lots of K&Co scraps, along with the blue Stampin' Up! scrap.  I added some Martha Stewart ribbon to the first card, and a couple of brads to the second card, and stamped both with a Hero Arts sentiment.  I don't know why the pictures came out so dark, but I hope you can see them well enough to enjoy them!  I've been burned out a little, craft-wise, but I will be posting the rest of my Valentines later this week.  Thanks for stopping by! :D

Love Bugs

Good morning!  I woke up at 6 a.m. on a Sunday, so I figured I might as well get out of bed and start working on some more Valentine's Day cards! :D  Here's one I made following the Mojo Monday sketch for this week:

I believe that was the last of my aqua paper :(  sniff, sniff.  I also used some dark pink DCWV paper that I bought a ton of when I first started making V-Day cards several years ago.  I've really been trying to work on using it up because it says "LOVE" in giant block letters, and it's all scrolly and not my style at all.  It's been working as background paper though, so the good news is that I only have one 12x12 sheet left!  Okay, moving on- the light pink paper with hearts is also DCWV, but I actually like that paper. :)  The red w/ hearts paper is Target, and I added that to some kraft cardstock, and tied a bit of white ribbon around the piece.  I believe the image is Inkadinkado, but I'm not 100% sure because I got it in a swap.  I added some Target brads to it and colored the image with my watercolor pencils.  I couldn't resist adding a bit of iridescent glitter to their wings.  :) The "lovebug" sentiment is another piece of that fabulous chipboard I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  And that's it!  Another card waiting to be mailed out for happy hearts day :)

Today I'm going to a friend's house to watch the Jets game- for my boyfriend's sake I hope they make it to the SuperBowl! :D  Enjoy your Sunday, friends!

Card Set: Tea Time/Thanks a Bunch

Hi all!  Hope you're enjoying your weekends. :)  These are the last 2 cards that were part of the gift sets I gave to my co-workers.  I'm really proud of the "tea time" cards because I made more of my own patterned paper, which is SO time-consuming and therefore something I rarely ever do.  I started off knowing I wanted to use the mug and sentiment from the Coffee Cafe stamp set by TPC Studio.  I colored the mug with a Copic marker and matted the image with some kraft cardstock, cut out with a Nestabilities template.  The idea then popped into my head to emboss the tea bag image on cardstock with clear powder, to create my own patterned paper.  The watermark effect is subtle, but I think it's perfect!  I doubt I'd be able to find tea bag patterned paper anywhere! :)  I added a bit of sheer purple polka dot ribbon and added the piece to some K&Co paper.  I believe I stamped the inside with "feel better soon" or something to that effect. :)

The "thanks a bunch" cards were SUPER easy to make, and super cheap!  I found a huge bucket of foam flower stickers at Office Depot, of all places, on clearance for 47 cents!  I wouldn't normally buy foam flowers, but for that price I couldn't resist.  Perfect for a project like this, too!  I sorted all of the flowers before I started sticking them to the cards, and I'm glad I did, because that's when I realized that for each design, there was one in each color, so I knew I was going to go with the rainbow theme.  I figured I would keep the background plain white so the flowers would really stand out.  I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment and called it a day!  Those cards took me about 5 seconds each to assemble- yessss! :D

 I hope you enjoyed seeing all of the cards in my set!  It was such a fun project and I'm so glad I was able to give a gift that wasn't store-bought.  I'm definitely going to do this again next year- using up so many supplies in one project makes me feel like I'm making a dent in my stash (I'm so NOT, but it makes me FEEL good anyway! lol)  Thanks for swinging by!
