Use It! #11

Hi everyone! Once I get my act together, I'll post more regularly, but for now, here's my entry for this week's challenge. Here is Ingrid's fun challenge:
1. Size: square card base- check!
2. Theme: Summer- check! I got the image in a swap
3. Embellishments: use a flower(s), ribbon, pin(s) and twine- check! Doodlebug glitter flower
check! Michael's ribbon
check! pin from my stash
check! twine from my Mom's junk drawer
4. Tools: Punches- check! I used my new EK Success embossed scalloped border punch

All of the other supplies are by Creative Imaginations. I made this birthday card for my friend, whose last name is Keene, so on the inside of her card, I'm going to write "Hope you have a "beachy Keene" birthday! :)

This was a really great challenge, I hope you all enjoy my card!

Guess Who's Hosting Use It! #10??? :D

ME! :D Yay! I've been waiting a long time to win one of the challenges and my patience was rewarded :) Here's my challenge:

1. monochromatic scraps-
I went to town on my green scraps
with some circle punches.
I've really been trying to let my patterned paper
stand on its own,
and this was a great way to
display a lot of patterns in a small space.
.
2. rub-ons or clear stickers-
I originally used a white Making Memories rub-on,
which didn't show up as well as I thought it would,
so I covered with an identical rub-on in black
(I'd *really* use up my stash
if I did everything that way! lol)
.
3. chipboard-
in my case, the green and white swirl is a piece of
chipboard by DCWV (Green Stack line)
.
4. (optional) non-traditional ribbon
(for example, tape, a strip of paper or ripped fabric)-
I used white scalloped ribbon tape by Heidi Swapp.

I also used some brown polka dot ribbon by Pebbles Inc., some cardstock by ATD and DCWV patterned paper. It felt so great to use up those tiny scraps :) If you have some free time, I'd *LOVE* it if you could play along! Check out Rae's blog at: http://useitchallenges.blogspot.com

Have a FABULOUS weekend! I'm finishing up my invitations tonight and tomorrow... I hope to have pictures posted tomorrow or Sunday! YAY! :D

Mojo #85

Hi everyone! I rushed last night to make my mom's mother's day card- I've been spending so much time on the invitations that I've forgotten about my other obligations! :) Anyway, I knew I wanted to make this card really pretty, so I FIIIIINALLY dug into my Basic Grey Urban Prairie papers. This line is so gorgeous, I hadn't had the heart to cut it up, but for my mom, it was worth it! I also used a tag from Around the Block (*love* these tags!), some gems by Darice, more of my best-favorite aqua ribbon (Target's Club Wedd line, that I bought at the dollar store- 15 yards!) and a perfectly-fitting sentiment by Hero Arts. I don't usually get "mushy", but my mom is seriously the best, so I had to use this stamp. Looking back at the card, I'm not sure I would have used SO much lime green, but hind site is always 20/20. :) Anyway, I hope you like this card- I think my mom melted a little when she saw it :D

Thanks for stopping by- happy mother's day to all you wonderful moms out there!

Card Patterns #13

I'm back again, sooner than I thought. I forgot to post this week's CPS#13- I made some more thank you cards- two for my dad b/c we got sympathy related gifts, and one for me for Secretaries' Week (I got a lot of gifts- I'll post the other thank you cards soon). I really liked this week's sketch- simple but fun. I used My Mind's Eye paper (brown), K&Co (green), and Amy Butler (blue), but I can't remember where I got the cream paper. The flower rub-on is American Crafts, the ribbon is Target, the brad is Michael's and the flowers were in my stash (I believe the green one is Prima). I've been seeing piercing everywhere, so I thought I'd give it a try. It took a lot of time, so I'm not sure I'll do it too often, but I do like how it looks. All together a pretty simple card, I hope you like it! Today I'm off to work on the inside of my invitations- I hope to get A LOT of work done this weekend. Hope you have a great weekend, thanks for stopping by!

Use It! #8

Hi everyone! I've been SUPER busy making invitations for the baby shower- I'm only halfway done, but I hope to be finished next weekend. My mom's best friend is throwing her daughter a barnyard animal-themed shower, and I offered to make the invitations (100!) so I've been spending all of my free time working on them. I'll post once I'm finished.

I squeezed in time last night to participate in this week's Use It! challenge. We were asked to make a mother's day card using:
  • flowers- check! Petaloo, Prima, and Daisy D's w/ a brad by Joann's
  • fibers- check! I used up some swap stash (love this stuff, it's stretchy!) :)
  • something metal- check! We R Memory Keepers precious metal letters
  • tool not used in a while- check! I haven't used my corner-rounder in a minute
I also used some paper by DCWV- perfect for mother's day! I made this card for Chris and me to give to his mother- I hope she likes it. :)

I hope to be blogging again after the 15th or so, so please bear with me. Thanks for checking in! :D
