Happy Graduation!

Hi everyone!  This is the card I made for my boyfriend's sister's college graduation.  The school's colors are white and hunter green so I went to town on the stamped piece by coloring darkly on the bottom and lightly on the top- fun, huh? I'm not really artistically talented, but this was surprisingly easy enough to do.  :)  The stamp is Rubber Stampede, by the way.  The graduation hat had been sitting in my "junk" drawer for ages- it came in a swap and I just hadn't had an occasion to use it for, so I'm glad I remembered I had it! The black polka dot paper is K&Co and the white paper I made myself with a Studio G stamp.  The ribbon came from Michaels, and the green DCWV cardstock was cut out with a Nestability.

I know I haven't been posting much, but I've been making these gift card holders a lot lately- they're SO easy to do, and come out really cute!  I forgot to take a picture of the inside of this one, but I cased the idea off of Laurie Schmidlin and you can check out her tutorial here:  http://justgivemestamps.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/04/gift-card-holder-a-tutorial.html

I used scraps from the card and another Studio G stamp.  It's just big enough to hold the gift card, but you can check out the proportions in this picture (my cards are almost always 5x6 1/2):

Here's a picture of Chris and me with Brittany:

Hope you all like my little gift set- it was a ton of fun to make, and Brittany really liked it (she's an art major- I have a feeling it wouldn't be too hard to get her hooked on card making!)  ;)  It's been super crazy busy at work, so hopefully soon I can catch my breath and have more crafting time.  I'm thinking about doing another craft fair IN A WEEK!  Yikes! I'll keep you posted!

Happy "Bee" Day!

Hi friends!  Just wanted to share a super fun set of birthday cards I made for some of the special girls in my life!  I made 4 of these cards, but I gave one away before I remembered I wanted to take a picture of the set!  I started off with this week's Taylored Expressions sketch, and got to work with lots of yummy papers from the Flower Shower Spring Stack by DCWV.  I have to say that this is probably the first DCWV stack that I absolutely LOVE- the colors are right up my alley.  Anyway, I used a stamp by Stampendous, some yellow American Crafts cardstock, and ribbon/staples from my stash.  The brads are Target, and the bee is embellished with Doodlebug sugar coating and/or flocking.  I had a tough time with the flocking because I wanted to do yellow AND black flocking, but I did the yellow first, and then the black flocking was sticking to the yellow, so then I switched to black glitter, but that didn't work too much better.  Next time I'll have to remember to do the darker color first- oops!  The bee guy also has some Prisma glitter to jazz up his wings ;)  These cards were a ton of fun to make- I really miss mass producing.  I just went through all of my patterned papers and pulled out the older stuff so I can work on using it up!  No more buying paper just because it's on clearance- I only buy the stuff I absolutely LOVE now! :)  Hope you're all having a cool week- it's been pretty humid here in NY- man, I can't wait for fall to arrive!!!

Growing old..

Hi again!  Another quick post- I made this card for Chris's birthday, which is tomorrow! :)  I used K&Co paper, an Anna Griffin tag, some ribbon from Michaels, a sentiment by atd, and the sticker is Miss Elizabeth's.  The star was a button in my stash.  I thought this was a fun and lighthearted card- hope you enjoy!

a jumbo thank you

Hi friends!  Just a quick post tonight- I've been sick the past couple of days and I'm still a little tired.  This card uses a fairly recent Mojo sketch and lots of Making Memories Chloe's Closet supplies.  I used a Close to my Heart elephant stamp and a Studio G sentiment stamp, some orange K&Co paper, and the rest is MM, down to the ribbon and button! :)  Hope you like, and I know I *really* have to be better about posting- I've been missing it! :)

Golf anyone?

Hi friends!  This is the card I made for my brother's birthday last week.  He's 32- I seem have a tough time making cards for adult males, but I actually like this card! :)  I used my new My Mind's Eye papers and this golf cart set by Clear and Simple Stamps.  I added some turquoise ribbon and a lime green button for a little embellishment (I didn't want to go overboard).  Looking back, I wish I had colored the tires on the cart, but it's too late now.  I used some scraps to stamp the sentiment on the inside- isn't that cute?!  Love those stamps!  I hope you enjoy my card, thanks for stopping in!

Celebrate Freedom

Hi there!  It's been a while since my last post, but for no particular reason other than things have been pretty busy lately.  I've been making cards like crazy; I just haven't had much time to post because of it.  I played along with this week's Taylored Expressions sketch because one of my co-workers and the club he advises is trying to collect items to send care packages to the troops.  One of the things he was asking for was notes and/or letters, so I thought I'd make up a batch of cards for people to fill out.  I used some DCWV paper (oddly enough from a fall collection!), scraps of red cardstock edged with a Martha Stewart punch, Studio G image and sentiment, and some kraft cardstock for the scalloped circle.  I threw on some buttons, too.  Each card didn't take too long to assemble, but multiplying each process by 12 added up to quite a task! :)  It was worth it in the end though, my co-worker was grateful to have these cards.  I hope to post a bit more this weekend- I have quite a few cards I'm excited to share.  Thanks for stopping by!

pre-decorated box

Hi again- just thought you might all like to see how the box looked before I decorated it.  This is certainly not my style, and I might even go so far as to say the box is... ugly..?!  haha  I feel bad saying that, but I think my version of the box is SO much nicer to look at.  I try to keep an eye out for things like this that can be quickly/easily converted into something that works for me.  I think I paid $2.99 for this box- not bad, huh? :) I could see some scrapbooking company charging like $14.99 for a chipboard box that you decorate yourself, so I'm really pleased with how the whole thing turned out.  Hope you're all having a great weekend!

PS- Last night I went to a penny social called Bountiful Baskets, and I won one of the *huge* business baskets, which just means that a ton of local businesses all chipped in to make these enormous and expensive baskets.  My basket was called "Art Gone Postal" and was full of prints/painted tiles from the local art gallery, several gift certificates (a free pizza, manicure, a $50 gift certificate for a local pub and a $25 gift certificate for the art gallery), 100 postage stamps, mailing envelopes and tape, and a picture frame.  Oh, and $25 cash from our local bank. My friend won one of the "regular" baskets, which was filled with baking goodies- a cookie sheet, a hand mixer, and some other things like spatulas, bowls, and measuring spoons.  I was so happy that we BOTH won something, because there were over a hundred baskets up for grabs, but several hundred ladies were there (and some of them were SERIOUS about winning!! lol) so we didn't think we'd walk home with anything.  Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement because I hardly ever get lucky like that! :D
